What counts as Retail and shops

This industry corresponds to division 47 of the SK NACE classification (retail trade), except pharmacies and medical supply stores, which have their own industry, Pharmacies, opticians and medical supplies. Online shops (47.91) are included.

An online shop is classified under 47.91 only when internet sales are the company’s main activity. A retailer with a physical shop and an additional online store stays in the class for its product range.

Online shops must say who runs them

For online shops the operator’s identity must be published. This helps link a website to a specific IČO.

Mandatory operator details
Under § 4(1) of Act No. 22/2004 Coll. on electronic commerce, a service provider must state its name or business name, registered office, email and phone, the register and registration number, and the supervisory authority. On online shops these details are usually in the terms or the footer.
Supervision
Compliance with the Electronic Commerce Act is checked by the Slovak Trade Inspection.
Premises in the trade register
For physical shops, the trade licensing register records premises with their address, not contacts.

Not in the export

  • number of stores in a chain
  • product range and brands
  • online shop turnover and order numbers
  • e-commerce platform used
  • names of store managers

These 17 columns are included.

Chains and independent shops

Retail chains have hundreds of stores but one IČO and one registered office. In the export they appear as one record. If you are looking for independent shops, say so in your request; we can exclude the large chains.

For online shops, the best contact is the published customer service or operator email address. For every contact we state the website on which it was published.
