Pharmacies need a permit

Pharmaceutical care is regulated. Permits and supervision are governed by the Medicinal Products Act.

Permit for pharmaceutical care
The conditions for running pharmacies and medical device outlets are set by Act No. 362/2011 Coll. on medicinal products and medical devices.
State Institute for Drug Control
Supervises medicinal products and medical devices and publishes lists of registered medicines and other public data.
Opticians
Opticians operate under a trade licence. Their contacts come mainly from websites, directories and map data.

Not in the export

  • permit numbers
  • number of branches in a chain
  • opening hours and emergency service
  • names of responsible pharmacists
  • medicine sales volumes

These 17 columns are included.

Pharmacy chain or independent pharmacy

Some pharmacies belong to chains with one IČO and dozens of branches. In the export a chain is one record with its registered office; independent pharmacies are separate records.

Statistics do not give opticians a class of their own. We select them by name and contact source; the quotation confirms the size of such a selection.

Example request

We manufacture food supplements and are looking for independent community pharmacies (SK NACE 47.73) in the Bratislava and Trnava regions with a published email address, excluding large chains. How many records can you supply?

Questions

Pharmacies, opticians and medical supplies: frequently asked questions

Statistics count businesses, not outlets. Pharmacy chains have one IČO and many pharmacies, and opticians are not included because the statistics show them together with other retail.

Yes, on request. As they have no SK NACE class of their own, we select them by name and source; we confirm the number before the quotation.

You may contact pharmacies via their published contacts: by email with an opt-out (§ 116(15) of Act No. 452/2021 Coll.) and by phone unless the number is on the do-not-call list. Advertising of medicines is subject to separate rules. Details: B2B outreach and § 116.
