Permits and provider registers

Healthcare and social services may only be provided with a permit or a registration. These records are public, but their contact details are incomplete.

Healthcare providers
Permits to operate practices and facilities are issued under Act No. 578/2004 Coll. by the self-governing regions and, for some facilities, the Ministry of Health. The Health Care Surveillance Authority keeps a list of providers with identifiers.
Social service providers
The register of social service providers is kept by the self-governing regions under Act No. 448/2008 Coll. on social services.
Hairdressers and beauty salons
They operate under a trade licence. Contacts come mainly from websites, directories and map data.

  • surgery hours
  • number of patients

The doctor as a person, the practice as a business

Many practices are run by a doctor as an individual or through a one-person limited company. Data about individuals is personal data and the GDPR obligations apply. The export never contains patient health data, only the provider’s contact details.

One provider may run several practices at different addresses. The export contains the registered office; if you need the practice addresses, say so in your request.
